NCS Global is delighted to share our 2022 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report used to track our progress in meeting these commitments. Now, let’s dive into some notable achievements highlighted in the full report.
Reduction of Landfill Waste and GHG Emissions
Recent data shows that more than 50 million metric tons of e-waste are generated globally, which continues to grow yearly. To help solve this problem facing humankind, our team helped our clients recycle, repair, and reuse aging tech assets that otherwise would have ended up in a landfill. In 2022 alone, NCS Global recycled over 882,000 kg of e-waste and refurbished over 212,300 kg of devices. We also avoided over 3,300 metric tonnes of Co2 in GHG emissions, equivalent to the annual emissions of 717 vehicles.
Increased Usage of Renewable Energy for Operations
Last year and four years ahead of schedule, NCS Global achieved renewable energy self-sufficiency. Solar panels installed at our facilities are our primary power sources for all company operations. In 2022, we generated 147.04 MWh of solar energy, which helped us avoid GHG emissions of approximately 104.25 metric tonnes of Co2. This is equivalent to getting 23 vehicles off the road for a year or planting 1,738 trees. By prioritizing renewable energy and sustainable practices, NCS Global is reducing its environmental impact and contributing to a more sustainable future for all.
Continued Mentorship of Local Students
Our 2021 internship cycle was so successful that in 2022, we decided to bring it back— but more extensive than ever. The program aims to provide hands-on experience and education in ITAD to local high school and college students while also benefiting from their youthful energy and positivity. We welcomed nine students into our company and mentored them in the fast-growing ITAD industry, equipping them with valuable skills to serve them well in their future careers. We’re proud to provide young people the coaching they need to lead happy, successful lives.
Looking Toward the Future
In 2022, we opened our newest facility in Los Angeles, CA, a global hub for technology and innovation. NCS-WEST, as we refer to this new location, is the only E-Stewards facility in southern California. It adheres to all best practices related to electronics reuse and recycling. It’s also NAID AAA certified, which denotes NCS Global’s steadfast commitment to maintaining 100 percent data security, and ISO certified, which ensures that our organization meets stakeholder needs within all statutory and regulatory requirements.
